Mitchell Christian
Head Trainer/Owner
Mitch’s passion for dog training began in childhood, inspired by the remarkable duck dogs owned by his grandpa and uncle. From a young age, he trained every family dog he could, developing hands-on skills and a deep love for the craft that would shape his future.
As a proud Marine Corps veteran, Mitch’s fascination with working dogs grew during his service. Although he didn’t serve as a handler, observing the discipline and capability of military K9s left a lasting impression.
After completing his active duty, Mitch worked as an engineering technician at Honda and Battelle, then attended THE Ohio State University. Eventually, he chose to follow his passion full-time, founding Christian K9 Academy—now one of Ohio’s most respected training programs.
Determined to learn from the best, Mitch traveled extensively to train under leading experts in the field. He graduated at the top of his class from Highland K9 International School for Dog Trainers, earning certification as a police and military K9 instructor.
Today, Mitch brings unmatched expertise to every dog he trains. His work includes pet obedience, police K9s, protection dogs, hunting dogs, detection, tracking, directional control, and search and rescue. His mission: to bring out the best in every dog and help handlers build lasting success.
Our Facility
Located just west of Columbus, Midwest Working Dogs operates on a private 20-acre training campus featuring a state-of-the-art 8,000 sq. ft. facility. Our grounds include two spacious indoor training areas, a fully equipped classroom, luxury kennels for premium canine care, and a full USPCA-certified agility course. Surrounded by open fields and natural terrain, this secure, distraction-free environment provides the perfect setting for real-world scenario training, handler development, and canine conditioning.
